COMMUNITY SERVICE

Reaching out into our communities is vital to our organization, developing relationships with community leaders, media, school faculty and local civic groups can greatly assist each post in achieving the VFW mission.

Post 1264 members are very active within the community and surrounding areas.  The programs and activities conducted range from hosting open houses and picnics to more serious and needed activities which help support and aid the community.

In addition, Post 1264 has a Veterans Advocate who is actively involved with other organizations to assist Veterans.

Members of Post 1264 are active in their community schools.   Each year the Post works with area schools in Roanoke County and provides needed School Supplies.  A list is provided by the School Principal with the type of school supply needed and the number and grade of the Student.

The Post 1264 Honor Guard can be seen at Veteran's Funerals and Celebrations of Life Service.
