Gus K Schuler was elected Senior Vice Commander of VFW Post 1264 in May, 2023. He previously served as Junior Vice Commander.

Gus served in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer from 1990 to 1993, and the Army National Guard in Transportation, Engineering, and Field Artillery units from 1993 to 2002. Gus earned the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct, WV Achievement Medal, WV Emergency Service Commendation, among others. 

Gus joined the VFW in 2021 at Post 1264 in Roanoke, VA, where he maintains his Silver Legacy Life membership. Gus is also the Post 1264 Webmaster as well as the Treasurer for both the Riders and the Honor Guard.
